Bush Heritage is participating in Community Million Dollar Challenge

Support the protection of Australia’s biodiversity by raising funds for Bush Heritage Australia and taking one of the world’s classic desert treks, the Larapinta Trail. You’ll appreciate the work of Bush Heritage as you trek the high ridge lines of the West MacDonnell Ranges to witness the vast flood plains that form this ancient land in Australia’s Red Centre. On this fully supported trekking challenge you walk with just a day pack to take on the best sections of this iconic desert trail: you’ll be dwarfed by the immensity of Ormiston and Serpentine Gorge and soothed by their idyllic waterholes and amazed by dramatic colour changes in the rock formations at Simpsons Gap and Standley Chasm. The pinnacle of the challenge will you climb to the lofty peak of Mt Sonder, the NT’s fourth highest peak at 1380m, to watch a majestic sunrise over the trail you’ve just completed in support of Bush Heritage.

Since 1995 - when World Expeditions offered the first commercial trek in this outstanding walking destination - we have led the way on the Larapinta Trail and our exclusive semi-permanent campsites continue to set the standard, winning us the 2016 and 2017 Ecotourism award in the Brolga Northern Territory Tourism Awards. At the end of each day you can relax in comfort at our architect-designed camps - including hot showers, comfortable lounges and heated dining shelter - as your guides prepare gourmet 3-course dinners around the campfire.
